Hi All
I thought it might be good to have a "Favourite Scripture" thread - a place where we can post our favourite Scripture of the Day. I'll start...
Proverbs 16:18-19
Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Better to be lowly in spirit and among the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud.

I am currently finding much wisdom and solace from the Book of Ezekiel, which is one of (in my opinion) the most oft neglected books of the Holy Bible.
Ezekiel 33:10-20
God's Way Is Just
[10] Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Israel; Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins be upon us, and we pine away in them, how should we then live?
[11] Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
[12] Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth.
[13] When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.
[14] Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right;
[15] If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die.
[16] None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live.
[17] Yet the children of thy people say, The way of the Lord is not equal: but as for them, their way is not equal.
[18] When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby.
[19] But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby.
[20] Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. O ye house of Israel, I will judge you every one after his ways. |

Psalm 131 (New International Version)
A song of ascents. Of David.
1 My heart is not proud, O LORD,
my eyes are not haughty;
I do not concern myself with great matters
or things too wonderful for me.
2 But I have stilled and quieted my soul;
like a weaned child with its mother,
like a weaned child is my soul within me.
3 O Israel, put your hope in the LORD
both now and forevermore. |

Psalm 63
A psalm of David. When he was in the Desert of Judah.
1 O God, you are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you,
my body longs for you,
in a dry and weary land
where there is no water.
2 I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.
3 Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.
4 I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.
5 My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods;
with singing lips my mouth will praise you.
6 On my bed I remember you;
I think of you through the watches of the night.
7 Because you are my help,
I sing in the shadow of your wings.
8 My soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me. |

Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father's house there are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, ye may be also.
And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
Thomas saith unto Him, "Lord, we know not whither thou goest; how can we know the way?"
Jesus saith unto him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
John, 14, 1-6

John 14: 1-6 is one of my favorite passages, Slim.
Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles - Proverbs 24:17. |

| May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus. Romans 15:5 |

"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:"
What an amazing line to read each day! |

Yes.
32 Better a patient man than a warrior,
a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city. -- Proverbs 16:32 |

Jesus said:
"And behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last."
