Okay, they're all beautiful, but I couldn't think of another title. .
In the wondrous blending of sounds it is Thy call we hear; in the harmony of many voices, in the sublime beauty of music, in the glory of the works of great composers: Thou leadest us to the threshold of paradise to come, and to the choirs of angels. All true beauty has the power to draw the soul towards Thee, and to make it sing in ecstasy: Alleluia! |

The breath of Thine Holy Spirit inspires artists, poets and scientists. The power of Thy supreme knowledge makes them prophets and interpreters of Thy laws, who reveal the depths of Thy creative wisdom. Their works speak unwittingly of Thee. How great art Thou in Thy creation! How great art Thou in man!
Glory to Thee, showing Thine unsurpassable power in the laws of the universe
Glory to Thee, for all nature is filled with Thy laws
Glory to Thee for what Thou hast revealed to us in Thy mercy
Glory to Thee for what Thou hast hidden from us in Thy wisdom
Glory to Thee for the inventiveness of the human mind
Glory to Thee for the dignity of man's labour
Glory to Thee for the tongues of fire that bring inspiration
Glory to Thee, O God, from age to age |

(I'm sorry if this has been posted. .)
O Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, do not permit vanity, self-love, sensuality, carelessness, nor anger to rule over me and steal me from Thy love, O my Lord and Creator, all my hope! Do not leave me without a portion of the blessed eternity. Grant also that I may follow Thy Holy example, that I may submit to the authorities placed over me. Grant me the clean soul, the simplicity of heart that makes us worthy of Thy love.
To Thee, O my God, I lift up my soul and heart; do not allow Thy creation to perish, but free me from the single and greatest enemy -- sin. Grant, O Lord, that I may endure anxiety and sorrows of the soul with the same patience as the joy with which I receive satisfaction of heart. If Thou desirest, O Lord, Thou canst cleanse me and sanctify me. Here I commit myself to Thy mercy, begging Thee to destroy within me all that is offensive to Thee, and to unite me to the assembly of Thy chosen.
O Lord, take from me: idleness of spirit, which destroys time; vanity of thoughts, which hinders Thy presence and distracts my attention to prayer. If, while in prayer, I turn away from Thee in my thoughts, help me; so that this distraction may not be willful, and that - averting my mind - I may not avert my heart from Thee. I confess to Thee, O my Lord God, all the sins of my wickedness committed before Thee, now and in the past. Forgive me for them for the sake of Thy Holy Name, and save my soul, which Thou hast redeemed with Thy precious Blood. I entrust myself to Thy mercy. I submit to Thy will. Do with me according to Thy mercy and not according to my evil and wickedness.
Teach me, O Lord, to dispose my deeds so that they will serve in glorifying Thy Holy Name. Take pity, O Lord, on all Christians. Hear the desires of all who cry out to Thee, and deliver them from evil. Save Thy servants {insert names}. Send them comfort; consolation in sorrows, and Thy holy mercy. O Lord, I especially pray for those who have in any way insulted, abused and grieved me. Do not punish them for the sake of me, a sinner; but pour Thy mercy upon them. O Lord, I pray to Thee especially for all those whom I, a sinner, insulted or tempted in word, deed, thought, knowingly and unknowingly. O Lord God, forgive us our sins and mutual offenses. Dispel from our hearts, O Lord, all indignation, suspicion, anger, remembrance of evil, quarrels, and all that might hinder and lessen brotherly love.
Be merciful, O Lord, to those who have entrusted me, an unworthy sinner, to pray for them. Be merciful, O Lord, to all who ask Thy help. O Lord, make this day a day of Thy mercy; give to each according to their petition. Be the Shepherd of the lost, the Guide of Light of unbelievers, the Teacher of the unwise, the Father of orphans, the Helper of the oppressed, the Healer of the sick, the Comforter of the dying, and lead us all to the desired end -- to Thee, our refuge and blessed repose. Amen. |

My children say a very short, simple prayer, after the service each week. It began as something they could learn as toddlers - and they still use it!
Thank you, Lord, for everything you have taught us this week. Amen. |

St Gregory on his own Soul
PG 37, 1425-1426
You ahve a job to do, soul, and a great one, if you like:
examine yourself, what it is you are and how you act,
where you come from, and where you're going to end,
and whether to live is this very life you are living, or something else besides.
You have a job to do, soul: by these things cleanse your life.
Make me to know God and God's mysteries.
What was there before this universe, and why is this universe here for you?
Where has it come from, and where is it going?
You have a job to do, soul, by these things cleanse your life.
How does God guide and turn the unvierse:
or why are some things permanent, while other things flow away,
and us especially, in this chaning life?
You have a job to do, soul: look to God alone.
What was my former glory, what is this present arrogance?
What will be my crown, and what the end of my life?
Of these things inform me, and check the mind from wandering.
A job you have to do, soul: lest you suffer in deep trouble. |

I pray for you, my friend.
I will name you in my heart before God and ask all His blessing be upon you.
I will be concerned for your rising and your daily mood.
I will be sympathetic to your personal needs and desires in each day of your life.
I will wish you well in your learning, or your work, in your domestic round and your leisure.
I will think of you at the close of each day and pray that God’s peace be with you.
If you are in trouble or difficulty of any kind, or simply tired and worn down, I will do all and anything I can to lift your spirits.
I will ache for you in your sorrows and disasters and rejoice with you in your joys and triumphs.
I will love and care for you as I love and care for myself. |

O gracious Mother of the gracious God, O most pure and blessed Mary, the Mother of God, pour the mercy of thy Son and our God upon my impassionate soul, and with thine intercessions set me unto good deeds, that I may pass the rest of my life without blemish and, with thine aid, attain heaven. O Virgin mother of God, the only one who art pure and blessed. O Queen of the Heavenly Host, Defender of our souls: being delivered from evil, as thy servants, O Mother of God, we offer unto thee the hymns of thanks and victory; but as thou hast power invincible, deliver us from all calamity, that we may cry unto thee: Rejoice, O ever-Virgin Bride! Amen. |

Thou didst lead me into this life as into an enchanting paradise.
We have looked upon the sky as a deep blue chalice
In whose azure the birds ring out:
We have heard the soothing murmur of the forest,
And sweet-sounding music of waters;
We have tasted fragrant and sweet fruits, and scented honey.
It is good in Thy home on earth, joyous to be Thy guests.
Glory to Thee for the feast of life;
Glory to Thee for the perfume of lilies-of-the-valley and of roses;
Glory to Thee for the delightful diversities of berries and of fruits;
Glory to Thee for the diamond briliance of morning dew;
Glory to Thee for the smile of light awakening;
Glory to Thee for earthly life, precursor of the heavenly;
Glory to Thee, O God, unto the ages! |

Spotless, undefiled, immaculate, unstained, pure Virgin, Lady, and Bride of God, by your wondrous conception you united God the Word with human beings and joined the fallen nature of our race to heavenly things. You are the only, hope of the hopeless, and the help of those oppressed. You are the ready protection of those who flee to you and the refuge of all Christians. Do not spurn me an accused sinner, though I have made myself completely useless by my shameful thoughts, words, and deeds and through indolence have become a slave to the pleasures of life. But as the Mother of God who loves all people, mercifully have compassion upon me a sinner and a prodigal and receive my prayer though it be offered to you by unclean lips. Entreat your Son and our Lord and Master, using your boldness as a mother, SO that he may open to me the loving mercy of his goodness, overlook my numberless transgressions, turn me to repentance, and make me an acceptable doer of his commandments. Always be near me, for
You are merciful, compassionate, and loving. Be my ardent help and protection in this present life, defending me from the assaults of adversaries, and lead me to salvation. At the hour of my death, care for my miserable soul and drive the dark faces of evil spirits far from it. On the awesome day of judgment, save me from eternal punishment and make me an inheritor of the ineffable glory of your Son, our God. May this be my lot, my Lady, all holy Theotokos, through your intercession and help, by the grace and love of your only begotten Son, our Lord and God and Savior Jesus to whom belong all glory, honor, and worship with his eternal Father, and his all holy, righteous, and life giving Spirit, now and forever and to the ages of ages. Amen.
